Symptoms of Lip Cancer
A Dental Focus on Cancer in the Sun Month |
Although many oral cancers go unnoticed in early stages, there are a few symptoms or warning signs. A bump, sore, or discolored area on the lip or in the mouth that does not heal is a main symptom. There are many tissue changes in the mouth that happen on a regular basis, but any that do not heal within two weeks is cause to see your dentist. Lip cancer has become less frequent in recent years, most likely due to the increased awareness and use of sunscreen products. However, oral cancers on or below the tongue or in the front of the mouth have not decreased. See your dentist immediately if you see a suspicious area that does not heal.
