Many companies offer dental discount plans. A dental discount plan is just that, a dental plan that offers you a discount on services. For a monthly or annual membership fee, you can enroll in a dental discount plan. In turn, you have access to a network of dentists who will offer you discounted fees for services simply by being a plan member. The discount you receive from a dental discount plan is straight off the top of the dentist’s standard fees someone without any insurance or discount would pay for services. Much as you would verify that your dentist accepts your dental insurance, you must confirm that your dentist accepts your discount plan as well. However, dental discount plans are different than insurance, as you pay out-of-pocket for services, but at a lower rate. There are no claim forms, no co-pays, and no reimbursement involved as there may be with insurance plans. You may wish to talk with your dentist about other financial arrangements or financing options available as well.
